Sometimes fabric makes the first impression and inspires the design. On a trip to Mood, I was taken with a beautiful tropical print Italian cotton voile. The beauty of the fabric itself was the genesis for a design worthy of its flowing, soft drape and vibrant colors.

In our modern, fast-paced world, sometimes we don't know the source of our stress. Technology can be a blessing and a curse. It has so many useful applications, but it still distances us from the raw nature of our lives. It was not on my mind to celebrate the holidays this year. Of course, my six year old son would have it no other way. . . and ultimately, I too have found joy in choosing to celebrate. I think back to when I was a girl, without all the added baggage that the holidays now have for me (to which I know so many people can relate). I remember simple joys: reflections of Christmas lights on my ceiling while I was falling asleep as a girl. Playing with my son outside in the snow for the first time, when he was just a toddler. Making paper snowflakes together.
